As I sit here looking over my to-do list for tomorrow's soft opening, I'm full of butterflies wondering how it will go. I'm not sure anyone can predict exactly how hosting an artist's reception during a pandemic will go, but I know for certain that this is something I have to do. The lack of contact with the outside world for so many months during a time plagued by political and social strife leads me to believe that we all need a little respite. This doesn't mean that social and political issues aren't important, and issues like those are ones I hope to cover in various shows in the gallery, but what it does mean is that I think we, as humans, do need a moment or two to take a breather. I consider this artist's reception a momentary breather from the daily news. I think the artwork of Bucks County artist and photographer, Jeff Reeder, will fulfill this goal of reprieve because I think it is capable of transporting us to other times and places through his use of imagery.
